Surcharges may appear on your invoice. The surcharge types depend on the type of services used and the service address where the service is being delivered.

Federal Universal Service Fund
This is a federal charge from the FCC. It is a fund to make sure telecommunication services are affordable. It provides discounted services for schools. Libraries and rural healthcare facilities. Each quarter, the rate is updated. We will collect this fee on your invoice.
Federal Telecommunications Relay Services Fund
This is a federal charge from the FCC. It is a fund to allow persons who are deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, or have speech disabilities to communicate by telephone in a manner that is functionally equivalent to telephone services used by persons without such disabilities.
FCC Cost Recovery Fee
This is an additional FCC fee. This fee is used for licensing of technology used in the telecommunication industry.
Sales taxes
This state tax must be paid to the state, regional, and local municipalities. We collect this tax on your invoice. Some invoices will have this line item broken out by municipality type if additional state-imposed regulator fees and excise taxes exist.
State Excise Tax
This is a telecommunication fee imposed by some states. We collect this tax on your invoice and pay it on your behalf.
Surcharge on Excise Tax
This is an additional per-item charge from some states.
State Telecom Relay Service Surcharge
Your state may use this surcharge to fund services like relay calls for people with hearing or speech impairments. We pay this fee to the state where your service is provided.
State Universal Service Charge
This state-based regulatory fee is mandated at certain locations. This fee usually provides funding to low-income individuals who need assistance.
Regulatory & Compliance Admin Fee
We pay certain government fees so we can give you service. We charge you the Regulatory & Compliance Admin Fee to cover some of those costs.
This charge may change if our costs and the government fees change. Parts of the Regulatory Cost Recovery Charge include the Federal Regulatory Fee, Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS) Fee, North American Numbering Plan Fee, and Local Number Portability administration support.
Use Taxes
Some states impose a fee on transactions that cross state borders.
911 Surcharge
Local municipalities may charge this fee to fund 911 emergency call centers.
